Kyle Rittenhouse Did Nothing Wrong. Conservatives Throwing Him Under the Bus Need to Cut It Out Now

Streiff was describing the GOP political establishment. But the tendency to, as Winston Churchill put it, keep feeding the crocodile in the hopes he’ll eat you last is ubiquitous on the right.

“They are eaten up with the unrequited desire to be loved, respected, and admired by people who actually loathe them.”

That trenchant description is from a piece my colleague Streiff wrote last week. It was on RNC head Ronna McDaniel’s lamebrained expression of hope that we’d be seeing some sympathetic shout-outs to Jacob Blake from speakers at the GOP convention.

As Streiff noted, Blake is “a common criminal, a perpetrator of domestic violence, who was shot resisting arrest.” We’ve since found out the cops were trying to arrest him on an outstanding warrant for rape and that Blake was either reaching for or already had a knife when he was shot.

The media’s systematic efforts to keep these facts from being widely known caused the city of Kenosha, Wisconson to be torn down and burnt to the ground.

Expressions of solidarity with Blake at the GOP convention would have been both politically unwise and morally reprehensible.

Streiff was describing the GOP political establishment. But the tendency to, as Winston Churchill put it, keep feeding the crocodile in the hopes he’ll eat you last is ubiquitous on the right.

We just saw an example of it yesterday in an otherwise right-on-target column conservative actor Dean Cain published in the Washington Examiner condemning the “cancel culture” that’s gradually become such a destructive force in American life.

I actually like Dean Cain a lot. If you haven’t seen his performance as Peter Stzrok in the play constructed from Stzrok and Lisa Page’s infamous text messages, FBI Lovebirds, you’re missing something that’s as funny as it is informative.

And there was a lot of sensible stuff in Cain’s op-ed which my colleague Becca Lower did a great job covering.

But it’s unfortunate that in the course of defending some remarks Tucker Carlson made about Kyle Rittenhouse against the latest outraged mob howling to get Carlson fired, Cain felt the need to throw a bone to that very mob. Cain both began and ended his op-ed by asserting that “what Kyle Rittenhouse did was wrong.”

Kyle Rittenhouse is in jail where leftists are openly calling for some criminal sympathetic to their cause to murder him.

Gofundme deleted the fundraising campaign to help his family pay the extraordinary amount of money it’s going to cost to keep him from spending the rest of his life there.

Facebook is blocking links to the alternative campaigns that were set up.

And, most, importantly, Kyle Rittenhouse did nothing wrong.

The law doesn’t operate in some hermetically sealed container, immune from any outside influence. Kyle’s ultimate fate depends as much on the battle over public opinion as it does on the one his lawyers will be waging.

So an unbelievable amount of harm is done to Kyle when a well-known conservative actor like Dean Cain gives a blatantly misleading account of the events that led to his arrest like this:

In August, a 17-year-old decided to pick up a rifle and go patrol the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin, in a misguided attempt to help restore law and order. This should never happen. Unfortunately, the tragedy that ensued took the lives of two people and inflicted additional heartache and pain on many others. What Kyle Rittenhouse did was wrong. No one should ever take the law into his or her own hands.

Kyle’s confrontation with his two assailants is on video. It couldn’t possibly be clearer that he made every attempt to not have to resort to shooting anyone and only did so when it came down to his life or theirs.

Yet Dean Cain makes no mention that Rittenhouse was literally fighting for his life against depraved criminals.

One of the cretins trying to murder Kyle, Joseph Rosenbaum, whose death Dean Cain describes as “tragic” was sentenced to 12-and-a-half years for sexually abusing minors, where that included outright rape. According to his pre-sentencing report, Rosenbaum’s viscious depravity came to light when the mother of one of his victims, who were between 9 and 11-years old, “found a burn mark on her son.”

If someone had hunted Rosenbaum down and murdered him in cold blood to make him pay for burning and raping little boys, a lot of people would be defending his actions and many more would be disinclined to judge them too harshly. But Kyle Rittenhouse kills the worthless piece of scum in self-defense, and a leading conservative gives aid and comfort to the twisted leftist mobs trying to get revenge for their fallen comrade.

The second criminal who died because he was trying to murder Kyle Rittenhouse was no saint either. Anthony Huber, was arrested in 2012 on more than a half-dozen charges, including “Strangulation and Suffocation,” “False Imprisonment,” “Domestic Abuse,” “Use of a Dangerous Weapon,” and “Battery.” He wound up with a two and a half year sentence after pleading guilty to the first two.

While on probation in 2018, Huber’s predilection for violence again came to the attention of law enforcement when he was arrested for “Domestic Abuse”, “Disorderly conduct,” and “Battery.” After pleading guilty to the first two, he was sentenced to more probation, despite having committed his latest crimes while already on probation for his earlier ones.

Anyone discussing Kyle’s case without mentioning that he was clearly acting in self-defense or the kind of scum he was dealing with is doing Kyle Rittenhouse a grave disservice and endangering both his life and his cause.

But many conservatives who accept the evident fact that Kyle acted in self-defense, nonetheless, balk at defending him. They’re troubled because he showed up with a gun to help protect Kenosha against mobs of deranged hooligans who were literally trying to destroy everything the decent people living there had worked their whole lives to build and would have gladly slaughtered them as well just as two of their number tried to do to Kyle.

To those conservatives inclined to disown Kyle over such concerns, there are only two things to be said:

Get over it.

Now.

A friend of mine sent a message pointing out that the actual definition of the word vigilante might surprise a lot of people.

A member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.

As my friend when on to point out:

If you look at video from Tuesday night, the night before Rittenhouse and dozens of others came to Kenosha armed, you see rampaging looters, vandals, and arsonists. Local police are nowhere to be found, and the National Guard forces are only 250. This is 48 hours after the shooting, and lots of agitators had made their way to Kenosha from Chicago and Milwaukee. If you look at the definition, it refers to citizens enforcing the law due to the INADEQUACY of local police. That seems to have been the situation in Kenosha on Tuesday night, which led to the presence of people like Rittenshouse on Wednesday night.

Dean Cain deserves a lot of credit. As Becca pointed out in her piece on his op-ed, as a reserve police officer with the St. Anthony, Idaho, police department, he doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk.

But he and a lot of other conservatives who find themselves troubled over Kyle Rittenhouse having shown up to help defend the people of Kenosha don’t seem to have given enough thought to what was happening.

It’s important to not get stuck in ordinary ways of thinking when truly extraordinary circumstances occur. Law and order had completely broken down in Kenosha, Wisconson. Decent hard-working people watched their lives’ work turned to rubble and burned to the ground by mobs of crazed degenerates who would have gladly added their bodies to the pile of smoldering ruin. They were on their own, unable to count on any help from law enforcement, many of them no doubt frightened for their lives.

There wasn’t any law left for Kyle or anyone else “to take into his own hands” apart from Thomas Hobbes’ second law of nature after “Seek peace and follow it” when all the man-made laws holding things together have completely broken down:

By all means we can to defend ourselves.

Those unable to do so must have felt a kind of fear and uncertainty about their futures that most of us hopefully will never have to face.

Instead of thinking about Kyle’s actions from the comfort of your safe home far removed from those awful nights in Kenosha, knowing the cops are just a phone call away, how about trying to imagine them from the perspective of an elderly resident living through the nightmare, peering through window blinds at the carnage unfolding, knowing that no police will be coming to save them should their home become the next target, worried about being burned alive or dragged out and beaten to death.

The sort of passivity implicit in conservatives who attack Kyle Rittenhouse for stepping forward and trying to help is more frightening than the vandals responsible for tearing Kenosha and too many other American cities down this summer.

The latter have neither strength nor numbers. They’re weak and have only as much power as we willingly cede.

There comes a point where people have to defend themselves.

There comes a further point where civilized people have to band together to defend each other.

Kenosha, Wisconson, on the night Kyle Rittenhouse showed up to help, was well beyond that further point.

Given all that Kyle and his family are suffering from prosecutors either sympathetic to or desperate to appease the degenerate mob that destroyed their city, it clearly wasn’t prudent to take the risk he did.

But anyone claiming that Kyle’s willingness to risk his own life to try to limit the carnage caused by the lawless state of chaos that descended on Kenosha represents anything less than heroism is advocating for a kind of passivity in the face of the total breakdown of civilization that’s going to get a lot more people killed if the media and Democrat politicians keep getting away with inciting these riots.

And if conservatives don’t stop nourishing the deranged leftwing mobs’ flagrant lies about actions Kyle Rittenhouse took while defending his life from two of its cretinous members, they may very well get him killed as well.

President Trump and Abraham Lincoln; On the Shoulder of Giants—A Worthy Emulation

In the Republican Convention and elsewhere, the President has made repeated references to his admiration for Abraham Lincoln. He wanted to hold his acceptance speech at Gettysburg, symbolizing the crisis now upon us. Many of his supporters have told us they are hungry for an understanding of Lincoln. They want to understand the reference. We will gladly comply.

The article which follows is by Graham Lowry, one of the most talented historians of the American System who ever lived. Graham died in 2003. But his works on Lincoln bring the profound ideas of this hero, the nature of his mind, vividly to light. Lincoln saved the union by directly organizing and elevating the intellectual life of the working men and women who fought with him in the Civil War. He did so by resort to the great ideas of the American Revolution, grounded in the European Renaissance, which his own generation had all but forgotten.

SEGREGATION: Oregon Starts Race-Based COVID-19 Relief Fund

https://thepatriotsource.com/segregation-oregon-starts-race-based-covid-19-relief-fund/

(ThePatriotSource.com)- Oregon’s State Legislature has taken society back in time, reinstating segregationist policy and pitting residents of different races against each other. The new “Oregon Cares Fund for Black Relief and Resiliency” was approved recently, granting people additional coronavirus relief funds based on their race or ethnicity.

It’s part of a $200 million package designed to aid specific racial communities and sections of the economy, and almost certainly would not have occurred had it not been for the violent Black Lives Matter riots. According to local NBC affiliate KGW, the racist relief fund was “organized by the leaders of Oregon’s Black community.”

Does that mean Black community or just the leaders of the most vocal political activists in the state who happen to be Black?

The fund’s official website explains how it will work to ensure federal dollars only go to people who “make Oregon great.”

Do white people not make Oregon great, too?

“Now, more than ever, it is critical that the Federal dollars from the CARES Act serve to honor and protect those individuals, families, business owners, and non-profit leaders who are what make Oregon great,” it says. “We will be serving tens of thousands of Oregonians in a short period of time.”

The funds will be distributed to the resident’s bank account directly, as long as they apply for it. It will not be taxable income, but disaster relief funds designed to make lives easier for residents. However, the disbursement of the grants will be determined by a “Council of Trust” made up entirely of black Americans.

The website says the Council of Trust is made up of “11 trusted Black leaders from across Oregon.”

According to Sharon Gary-Smith, one of those 11 trusted Black leaders, it is a “wonderful, deserved, and appropriate step to address the harm caused by COVID-19 on the Black community.”

“Black Oregonians had had monumental losses in spirit, hope, community, and resources due to centuries of racial injustice and discrimination,” she claimed, without providing any evidence of modern discrimination against black people.

We have laws against that.

The funds, it seems, do not address the huge losses felt by white people and business owners, too. But this racism is supported by local politicians and is, for some reason, not considered extreme.

State Representative Lawrence Spence, a Democrat from Portland, said that it is a “historic first step to address the disparities facing Black Oregonians in the face of COVID-19.”

First step, he says. What’s the second step? Free money specifically for black people still isn’t enough?

A little math problem for you.

Which President Misused Government Power?

The Leftmedia is worried about Trump’s RNC, but it should remember Obama.

If there was a Leftmedia theme from the first night of the Republican National Convention, it was that it was “dark.” For the second night, the theme might have been the fainting couch — as in pundits at various outlets falling on one because President Donald Trump was “breaking with precedent” and using the “powers of government in service of reelection.”

The Washington Post exemplifies the argument: “President Trump and the Republican Party placed the powers of the federal government in service to Trump’s reelection on Tuesday — staging pardoning and naturalization ceremonies as part of the GOP’s official nominating convention and using the White House Rose Garden for a speech by the first lady.” That also includes “an unusual political endorsement from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo delivered from an official overseas trip. The format bucked traditional norms of diplomacy and launched a House investigation into whether Pompeo violated the Hatch Act, a federal law that separates government functions from political ones.”

The pardon and the naturalization ceremony were both moving moments, and both illustrated two key pillars of President Trump’s record — criminal justice reform and legal immigration. The latter in particular also reminds us what a great country we live in, just as Maximo Alvarez did the night before.

The White House is where Melania Trump lives, and, last we heard from the media, we’re still in a pandemic in which travel is frowned upon. Heck, Joe Biden hasn’t left his basement since March. Hence the first lady’s Rose Garden venue, as well as the fact that Trump will accept the Republican nomination Thursday from the White House — also a first.

Finally, as for Pompeo’s speech, it was political only in that he favorably recounted a list of Trump’s foreign policy achievements, obliquely contrasting them to previous failed policies.

Trump’s style and protocols (or shattering thereof) are certainly up for debate, and we’ll let others do so. We’ll simply observe that his voters sent him to DC to shatter protocols that do nothing more than put a smiley face on establishment abuse.

To that point, the idea that Trump is doing something unprecedented is preposterous. Just to highlight a couple of examples, Barack Obama jetted around the country on Air Force One for campaign appearances. He politicized everything everywhere he went, usually on the taxpayers’ dime. So did Joe Biden, who, for example, bashed Trump while at a NATO summit on foreign soil in 2016.

Far worse, Obama and Biden used the power of various government agencies to advance their campaign agenda. They weaponized the IRS not for political speeches at a convention but to silence the political speech of their opponents ahead of an election. Obama’s two secretaries of state, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, politicized the job — whether it was Hillary lying about Benghazi to protect Obama’s reelection bid or Kerry negotiating with Iran after leaving office so as to undermine the current president.

Recounting Obama’s abuse of power wouldn’t be complete, of course, without mentioning that he mobilized the FBI to investigate Trump’s presidential campaign and then to instigate an attempted coup against his duly elected successor.

Forgive us if we don’t fret over a couple of speeches at the RNC when this is the history of how Democrats wield power when they have it.
