(FiveNation.com)- A Chinese energy corporation connected to Chinese military intelligence and an office the president shared with his scandal-plagued son Hunter may receive increased scrutiny due to the discovery of two batches of sensitive documents from Joe Biden’s tenure as vice president.
According to emails from Hunter’s abandoned laptop, Joe and Hunter Biden were “office mates” with executives from CEFC China Energy in 2017. In an email to the K Street office building’s general manager, Hunter Biden stated that his consulting company Hudson West, CEFC China Energy, and the Biden Foundation, his family’s nonprofit organization, would all share the office space.
In an email sent on September 21, 2017, Hunter Biden requested that keys be made available for his new coworkers, including Joe Biden, his stepmother Jill Biden, his uncle Jim Biden, and Gongwen Dong, whom he described as the “emissary” of the chairman of the now-defunct Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC.
The fact that the Bidens lived with CEFC executives after leaving the office in 2018 may be of national security concern, given that Joe Biden was found to have stored sensitive information about the UK, Iran, and Ukraine at a different Washington, D.C. office. Aides to Biden have also found secret documents in the garage of his Wilmington, Delaware home. A special counsel has been assigned to look into how the papers, some designated “top secret,” wound up at the Biden residences by Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday.
The findings, according to Rep. Darrell Issa (R., Calif.), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, should motivate the Justice Department to thoroughly inspect every one of Joe and Hunter Biden’s current and previous properties.
It is unknown if any sensitive information was kept in the Bidens’ K Street office. However, considering the energy conglomerate’s connections to Chinese military intelligence, the accessibility of the office to CEFC employees may be of particular concern. Hunter Biden collaborated closely with Ye Jianming, the company’s former chairman. Ye allegedly held the position of deputy secretary general of the China Association for International Friendly Contacts from 2003 to 2005, a front organization for the People’s Liberation Army that “performs dual roles of intelligence collection and conducting propaganda and perception management campaigns,” according to a Senate Republican report.
JiaQi Bao, a CEFC employee who House Republicans believe to be a spy for China, and Hunter Biden developed a close friendship. Bao graduated from Tsinghua University, a significant hub for recruiting for China’s intelligence agencies.
According to Rep. James Comer (R., Ky.), the head of the House Oversight panel, Bao persuaded Hunter to encourage Joe Biden to run for president.
